Des Moines, Iowa — An Iowa nurse with a history of criminal allegations is facing new disciplinary action that could impact her ability to continue practicing.
State regulators have charged Jessica Renee Williams, 48, with failing to report a criminal conviction and committing offenses that may affect her fitness to work as a nurse. The Iowa Board of Nursing has scheduled a hearing for June 30, 2026.
The case follows multiple prior incidents. In 2018, Williams was accused of taking a patient’s prescribed narcotic while working at a nursing home, resulting in a one-year probation on her license. In 2023, she pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a patient’s credit card, receiving two years of probation.
More recently, in 2025, Williams was charged with stealing jewelry and cash from a patient while serving as a live-in caregiver. She later pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor theft charge and was again sentenced to probation. That case also led to a probation violation tied to her earlier conviction.
Williams has challenged her most recent conviction through post-conviction filings, alleging the victim fabricated evidence and seeking damages tied to job loss and potential license revocation.
State officials have not released details about the latest allegations, citing standard licensing board practices.
