Washington, D.C. — Former Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she is discussing the possibility of launching a new political party after publicly breaking with the GOP and President Donald Trump’s wing of the party.
Greene said on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” that “a group of us” could form what she called a “true America-focused party” that avoids what she sees as failures of both Democrats and Republicans. She said the effort would be difficult and would likely take more than a few campaign cycles to develop.
The remarks follow Greene’s recent alignment with Tucker Carlson, who said he would not support Republicans in the next midterm elections. Axios reported last week that Greene said Carlson was “not the only one” done supporting the Republican Party.
Greene, once one of Trump’s strongest allies in Congress, split with him after criticizing parts of his administration’s agenda. Trump later withdrew his support, and Greene announced she would leave her House seat.
On Morgan’s show, Greene said Carlson would be a “credible threat” if he ran for president in 2028 because he could appeal to independent voters, Republicans, and some Democrats. For now, no formal party launch has been announced.
