SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — A mass shooting early Sunday left eight children dead and two others injured in what police described as a domestic-related incident spanning multiple locations.
According to NBC News, officers responded shortly after 6 a.m. to reports of a disturbance on West 79th Street. Authorities said the crime scene extended across at least three locations, including a second shooting site on Harrison Street and a nearby residence where one victim fled for help.
Police reported that ten people were shot, with victims ranging in age from 1 to 14 years old. Eight children died from their injuries. Officials indicated that some of the victims were related to the suspected gunman.
After the shootings, the suspect allegedly carjacked a vehicle and fled the area, prompting a police pursuit. Officers ultimately shot and killed the suspect during the chase. Authorities believe he was the sole individual responsible for the violence.
Investigators have not yet released the suspect’s identity, and the motive remains unclear as the investigation continues. Police described the situation as complex due to the multiple locations and the number of victims involved.
The incident adds to ongoing concerns surrounding domestic violence and gun-related fatalities, particularly those involving children.
