Washington, D.C. — U.S. and Israeli officials are facing renewed security concerns after Israel reportedly shared intelligence with the United States about an alleged Iranian plan to assassinate President Donald Trump.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel recently provided U.S. officials with intelligence indicating Iran was considering a new plan to kill Trump. The report, based on people familiar with the matter, comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following the collapse of a temporary ceasefire.
Trump addressed the threats while speaking to reporters, saying he is on “every single one of their lists” and describing Iran as “a little bit out of control.” The National Desk reported that Trump also changed aircraft during recent travel out of caution, though officials did not say the move was tied directly to the new intelligence.
Iran has long vowed retaliation over the 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force. In 2024, the Justice Department disclosed an alleged Iranian murder-for-hire plot targeting Trump, and AP reported that prosecutors charged a man accused of being tasked by an Iranian official with planning the assassination.
The new intelligence has not been independently confirmed publicly by U.S. officials, and Iran has previously denied similar accusations.
