Washington, D.C. – The Democratic National Committee has publicly released a long-awaited internal report examining the party’s failures during the 2024 presidential election campaign after mounting pressure from party activists and donors.

The roughly 200-page “after-action report” reportedly details strategic and organizational problems that contributed to former Vice President Kamala Harris’s defeat in the 2024 election. According to reporting on the document, the review cites lingering voter frustration over inflation, ineffective responses to conservative media messaging, and divisions within the Democratic coalition as major factors behind the loss.

DNC Chair Ken Martin had previously resisted calls to release the report publicly, dismissing demands for a full post-election review as unproductive “navel-gazing.” However, pressure from progressive groups, campaign operatives, and donors intensified in recent months.

The report’s release also comes amid growing speculation about Harris potentially preparing for another presidential campaign in 2028. Reports indicate Harris privately supported making the findings public as Democrats attempt to rebuild trust with voters and reassess campaign strategy.

Despite the report’s publication, questions remain about party leadership and whether Democrats can unify around a coherent message ahead of future national elections. Critics inside the party continue debating how much responsibility should fall on campaign strategy, economic conditions, or broader cultural and media dynamics.
