Washington, D.C. — Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson sharply criticized President Donald Trump following Rep. Thomas Massie’s Republican primary loss in Kentucky, calling the defeat “obviously the death of MAGA” during a recent episode of his podcast.

Massie, a longtime Kentucky congressman known for opposing portions of Trump’s agenda, lost Tuesday’s GOP primary to Trump-backed challenger Ed Gallrein by more than nine points. Trump actively campaigned against Massie in recent weeks after the congressman criticized the administration’s foreign policy approach and the Justice Department’s handling of files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Carlson argued the result represented more than just a political defeat for Massie. “It’s obviously the death of MAGA, whatever that was,” Carlson said, adding that the Republican Party had fundamentally changed under Trump’s continued influence.

The commentator, once viewed as one of Trump’s strongest media allies, has increasingly criticized the president over U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, particularly in Iran. Carlson also recently accused Israel of exerting too much influence over American foreign policy decisions in the Middle East.

Massie’s loss continues a broader trend of Trump-backed primary victories against Republican incumbents or candidates who publicly challenged parts of the president’s agenda. Carlson warned the administration’s recent actions were weakening American influence abroad, despite Trump’s continued dominance within Republican primary politics.
