Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump’s approval rating on the economy has fallen to a new low in a PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, as Americans continue to cite gas prices, grocery costs, and household expenses as major concerns.

The poll found that 33% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, while 60% disapprove. PBS reported that this is the lowest economic approval rating Marist has recorded for Trump since it began asking the question in 2019. His overall approval rating in the survey was 36%.

Gas prices remain a major pressure point. Seventy-eight percent of Americans said gas prices had at least some effect on their household budgets. PBS reported that prices have dropped about 50 cents per gallon from last month but remain about 79 cents higher than a year ago.

A separate Reuters/Ipsos poll also found Trump’s approval at 36%, with cost-of-living concerns continuing to weigh on voters. Reuters reported that approval of Trump’s handling of the cost of living remained low, even as gas-price anxiety eased slightly.

The PBS News/NPR/Marist poll was conducted June 8-11 among 1,340 adults, with a 3-point margin of error.
