Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump offered his own assessment of presidential greatness Thursday, and the suspense was limited: he placed himself alone in the top category.
Trump posted a graphic on Truth Social ranking 34 presidents across six tiers, from “The Greatest” to “Failures.” Trump occupied “The Greatest” by himself, while Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were placed one tier below as merely “Great.”
Theodore Roosevelt, Grover Cleveland, John Adams and James K. Polk made Trump’s “Near Great” category. Bill Clinton was among those judged “Average,” while Calvin Coolidge and several others landed in “Below Average.”
Trump reserved the “Failures” category for Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Ulysses S. Grant and Warren G. Harding.
The ranking was also notable for who did not make the cut. Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Harry Truman, Richard Nixon and both George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were among the presidents omitted entirely.
Trump provided no methodology explaining how the rankings were calculated or why some presidents were excluded.
The post quickly generated reactions from both liberals and conservatives, some of whom questioned the unusual placements and omissions. Trump has frequently used Truth Social to promote his record and criticize predecessors, particularly Biden and Obama.
