Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest response to a U.S. proposal aimed at ending the war, leaving negotiations stalled as fighting and shipping disruptions continue in the Gulf.

Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran’s reply was “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” accusing Tehran of “playing games” with the United States for decades. The Iranian response was delivered through Pakistani mediators and reportedly called for a broader regional settlement, including an end to hostilities, sanctions relief, reparations, and control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S. proposal reportedly focused on ending the conflict, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and scaling back Iran’s nuclear program. Iran has restricted traffic through the strait, a key global energy route, while the U.S. military has blockaded Iranian ports and struck Iranian oil tankers.

Reuters reported that the latest impasse has kept tensions high after weeks of conflict involving Iran, the United States, Israel, and Hezbollah. AP also reported that Iran has warned it will defend its nuclear facilities while regional drone attacks have raised concerns about maritime security.

The diplomatic standoff leaves mediators, including Pakistan and Qatar, trying to keep talks alive while global markets watch for further disruptions to oil supplies.
