Roughly 3,200 Boeing workers in St. Louis, St. Charles, and Mascoutah plan to strike Monday at midnight CDT after rejecting a modified four-year labor agreement, according to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
The union had initially recommended the deal, which included a 20% wage increase and improved medical and pension benefits. But after a cooling-off period, members voted it down, citing insufficient recognition of their skills and needs.
“They deserve nothing less than a contract that keeps their families secure,” said IAM’s Sam Cicinelli.
Boeing said it offered a 40% average wage increase and addressed alternative work schedule concerns. “We are prepared for a strike,” said Boeing’s Dan Gillian, citing a contingency plan.
The strike comes amid broader struggles for Boeing, which is still recovering from multiple fatal crashes and production setbacks. In June, an Air India-operated Dreamliner crashed, killing over 260.
