Castlewood, South Dakota — Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s mother says Noem and her husband, Bryon Noem, plan to divorce, though no public divorce filing has surfaced.

Corinne Arnold, Noem’s mother, told the Daily Mail that the family expected the couple to separate and that Noem said at a family gathering they were “going to get a divorce.” The National Desk reported the claim after earlier Daily Mail reporting about Bryon Noem’s alleged online activity involving a fetish community and photos that circulated publicly.

A spokesperson for Kristi Noem previously told the New York Post that the family was blindsided by the reports. Noem also denied separate allegations of an affair with former Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, calling them “tabloid garbage” during a March congressional hearing.

President Donald Trump removed Noem from the Homeland Security post in March and named Sen. Markwayne Mullin as her replacement. Noem later moved into a special envoy role connected to the Shield of the Americas.

The divorce claim remains based on Arnold’s interview, and there were no confirmed court filings cited in the reports.
