Hebron, Kentucky — Rep. Thomas Massie filed federal paperwork Monday allowing him to raise money for another political campaign after losing his Republican primary last week to Trump-backed candidate Ed Gallrein.

The Kentucky congressman filed documents with the Federal Election Commission tied to a possible 2028 run for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, though Massie clarified he has not yet decided which office he may seek in the future.

“I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run,” Massie said after filing the paperwork.

Massie’s defeat came after one of the most expensive and contentious House primaries in recent history, with millions of dollars flowing into the race from pro-Trump and pro-Israel political groups backing Gallrein. Trump aggressively targeted Massie after the congressman repeatedly broke with him on issues including foreign policy, government spending, and efforts to force additional disclosure of Jeffrey Epstein-related records.

During a Sunday interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, Massie suggested he could consider a presidential campaign in 2028 while also reflecting on life outside Congress after 14 years in office.

Massie argued his bipartisan work with Democrats pushing for the release of Epstein files contributed to his political downfall. He claimed Republican voters were punished for cooperating across party lines on issues involving government transparency.

Despite the primary loss, Massie said he plans to remain politically active in some capacity.
