WASHINGTON, D.C. — Newly released documentary footage shows the late Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham enthusiastically supporting the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran and comparing President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill.
Filmmaker Alex Holder recorded hundreds of hours with Graham beginning in 2023 for a documentary tentatively titled “Lindsey’s Game.” Footage obtained by The Wall Street Journal shows Graham celebrating the initial strikes and describing Trump as an effective wartime president.
“We’ve done it,” Graham said shortly after the attacks began, adding that he nearly cried because he had advocated military action against Iran for years. He said Trump and Netanyahu were the appropriate leaders to confront what he called an evil regime.
The footage also shows Graham predicting that Iran’s government would lose control of several cities within weeks. That prediction did not materialize. He discussed building momentum toward regime change and seeking greater support from Arab governments.
Holder told CNN that Graham played a consequential role in persuading Trump to enter the war alongside Israel.
Graham died July 11 at age 71 after suffering an aortic dissection. Throughout his Senate career, he consistently supported an interventionist foreign policy and stronger military action against Iran.
