Following the FBI’s arrest of Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan on obstruction charges, Judge Monica Isham of Sawyer County has threatened to suspend court operations unless she receives additional “guidance” and “support,” according to an email obtained by Wisconsin Right Now.

Isham said she no longer feels “protected or respected” as a judge under the current administration. She warned she would not hold court in Branch 2 of Sawyer County and expressed outrage over the arrest of Dugan, who is accused of helping an undocumented immigrant evade Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

In the email, Isham defended Dugan, criticized the handling of immigration enforcement in courtrooms, and even threatened to begin raising bail funds for defendants.

Dugan was arrested after allegedly directing an undocumented defendant out of a courthouse through a back door reserved for jurors and in-custody defendants, delaying his apprehension by ICE agents.
