NEW YORK CITY, New York — As Mayor Zohran Mamdani approaches his first 100 days in office, a new poll shows mixed but generally positive public sentiment toward his performance.
A survey conducted by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion found that 48% of residents approve of Mamdani’s job performance, while 30% disapprove and 23% remain undecided. The poll also showed 55% of respondents view him favorably, and 56% believe the city is moving in the right direction—an increase from late 2025.
Most respondents said they believe Mamdani is working hard and understands the city’s challenges, with 60% indicating he is fulfilling campaign promises. A majority also said he is helping unite the city rather than divide it.
However, the poll indicates Mamdani’s approval rating lags behind that of former Mayor Eric Adams at the same stage in his term, when Adams held a 61% approval rating. Mamdani’s current standing is closer to that of Bill de Blasio early in his tenure.
The survey included 1,454 New York City residents and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points. Pollsters described the results as a solid start but noted the mayor still faces a critical period ahead.
