Washington, DC — President Donald Trump has privately expressed growing frustration with Attorney General Pam Bondi, criticizing her as weak and ineffective over what he views as slow or insufficient enforcement by the Department of Justice, according to reporting by the Wall Street Journal.

Sources familiar with internal discussions say Trump’s complaints have intensified in recent weeks and center on Bondi’s handling of several politically sensitive matters. These include the lack of prosecutions involving former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and limited progress on investigations related to the 2020 election. Trump has also raised concerns about the Justice Department’s management of FBI files tied to Jeffrey Epstein.

According to administration officials, Trump has urged Bondi to use the DOJ more aggressively and has discussed appointing special counsels to advance cases he believes have stalled. Two criminal cases were dismissed in November after a judge ruled that Lindsey Halligan, a Trump appointee who replaced former prosecutor Erik Siebert, had been improperly appointed, despite Trump wanting the cases to continue.

While Trump has publicly praised Bondi, saying she is doing an excellent job, aides and supporters have privately expressed frustration with what they see as a lack of urgency and follow-through. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has also directed law enforcement officials to pursue Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff, further raising concerns about the politicization of federal prosecutions.

The White House has continued to defend Bondi publicly, even as internal pressure mounts for more aggressive legal action aligned with the president’s agenda.
