Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded a two-and-a-half-hour White House meeting Wednesday without reaching a clear agreement on how to proceed with Iran.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he insisted negotiations with Tehran continue “to see whether or not a Deal can be consummated,” adding that a diplomatic resolution would be his preference if achievable. The two leaders did not appear together before reporters following the meeting, departing from past joint press appearances.

Netanyahu’s office said the prime minister emphasized Israel’s security needs and that both sides agreed to maintain close coordination. Israel has long argued that Iran’s nuclear ambitions, ballistic missile program and support for regional proxy groups pose an existential threat.

Indirect U.S.-Iran talks resumed last week in Oman, marking the first such engagement since U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June. Those strikes reportedly set back parts of Iran’s program but did not eliminate its enriched uranium stockpile.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said any agreement should address both nuclear and missile concerns, while Iran maintains talks should focus solely on its nuclear activities.
