President Trump announced Wednesday that he will personally fund and install two 100-foot flagpoles on the White House grounds, calling them “two beautiful poles” that will be “top of the line.” The president made the remarks during a brief appearance on the North Lawn, flanked by aides and Secret Service agents.
“It was something I’ve often said, you know, they don’t have a flag pole per se,” Trump stated. One pole will be placed on each side of the grounds atop the existing mounds.
Following the announcement, Trump addressed reporters about his ongoing tariff negotiations, reiterating his position that countries like China and the European Union have taken advantage of the U.S. economically. “Those days are over,” he said, expressing optimism about future trade deals.
The flagpole initiative appears to be part of Trump’s broader efforts to reshape both the physical and symbolic presentation of the White House during his second term.
