A shooting at the Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office Wednesday morning left one person dead and two injured, authorities confirmed.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told ABC News the attack appeared to be carried out by a sniper firing from an elevated position several hundred yards away into the facility’s sally port area. The suspected shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Dallas police said, after firing from an adjacent building.
Police confirmed the fatalities but did not immediately identify the victims. Lyons noted that all ICE agents and officers assigned to the field office were accounted for.
Images from local media showed a heavy law enforcement presence surrounding the facility, with Texas Department of Transportation cameras capturing police activity around the area.
The investigation is ongoing, with Dallas police and federal authorities working to determine the shooter’s motive.
