Washington, DC — Elon Musk has contributed more than $276 million to Republican-aligned groups and his own super PAC since July, making him the largest known donor in the 2026 midterm elections.
The spending includes approximately $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, the main super PAC working to preserve the Republican Senate majority, and more than $76 million to Musk’s America PAC, according to reporting based on campaign-finance filings.
America PAC has also spent heavily in competitive races, directing tens of millions of dollars toward voter turnout operations and Republican candidates in key states and congressional districts. The scale of Musk’s spending gives him an unusually large financial role in the party’s effort to retain control of Congress.
The contributions continue Musk’s transformation into one of the country’s most influential political donors. He spent roughly $290 million supporting Donald Trump and other Republicans during the 2024 election cycle, according to previous campaign-finance disclosures.
Federal law limits how much individuals can contribute directly to candidates, but super PACs may accept unlimited donations as long as they do not coordinate expenditures with campaigns.
Musk’s latest contributions arrive as Republicans face expensive House and Senate contests nationwide and outside groups are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into advertising and turnout efforts ahead of Election Day.
