Far-right activist Laura Loomer accused Elon Musk of retaliating against her by suspending her X account, removing her verification badge, and demonetizing her subscriptions following a dispute over foreign work visas. Loomer told Newsweek that she’s received no response from the platform after raising concerns.

The conflict stems from Loomer’s criticism of Musk and President-elect Trump’s support for the H-1B visa program, which Musk defends as essential for attracting skilled workers. Loomer called Musk a “free speech hypocrite,” claiming her suspension contradicts his stated commitment to free expression.

Loomer said the feud began after she criticized Trump’s AI adviser Sriram Krishnan, arguing his views clash with Trump’s “America First” agenda. Afterward, her X account was briefly suspended, her verification removed, and posts mentioning her labeled as “probable spam.”

Musk defended the platform’s moderation policies, stating that X prioritizes “credible, verified subscriber accounts” and that excessive blocks or mutes by such users reduce an account’s reach. He also asserted that the First Amendment protects “free speech,” not “paid speech.”

Loomer warned that Musk’s actions send a troubling message to Trump supporters, suggesting dissent could result in censorship. She questioned Musk’s broader influence, citing his control over X, Starlink, and Tesla, and its implications for free expression and personal autonomy.
