A Miami-Dade County election worker was dismissed after failing to secure a truck’s back door, causing a sealed bin and bag of ballots to fall off the vehicle, local election officials reported. The Miami-Dade Elections Department attributed the incident to “human error,” explaining that the early-voting ballots had already been scanned and tabulated.
Christina White, the county’s elections supervisor, confirmed no tampering occurred, as all seals remained intact when the ballots were recovered by a resident who turned them into the police. The department emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for such mistakes as the reason for the worker’s termination.
