A federal judge dismissed the criminal case against Russell Warren, a Michigan man accused of threatening President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Morris decided there was not enough probable cause to continue after hearing arguments from both the defense and the government. Warren was accused of using social media to call for someone to take Biden and Harris to prison to be hanged by lawful authorities, rather than threatening direct harm himself.

Warren, 49, faced charges for making threats against the president, vice president, and other senior government officials, with the potential for a five-year prison sentence if convicted. His social media account contained numerous threats against various public figures, including intentions to destroy significant locations. Identified by his IP address, Warren was arrested by the U.S. Secret Service on January 29, following a prior arrest in 2022 for assault with a deadly weapon.
