Syracuse, New York A New York election worker says federal officers confronted her at a polling place over a social media post that criticized an ICE agent involved in a fatal shooting.

Paigelynne Gonyea, a Syracuse poll worker, told The Associated Press that two Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents approached her Tuesday while she was working at a polling site. She said they warned her that she could face prosecution for an Instagram post naming the ICE agent who shot Renee Good in January.

Gonyea said her post repeated information already reported publicly. The agents allegedly gave her a warning letter and asked her to sign it. She described the encounter as intimidating.

Election officials from both parties in Onondaga County criticized the visit. Democratic Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny and Republican Elections Commissioner Kevin Ryan said law enforcement should not enter polling places unless there is an emergency or a clear legal reason.

Officials said voting was not disrupted. ICE said the agents did not interfere with the election process and were following up on concerns about threats toward law enforcement.
