Aurora, Colorado Mayor Mike Coffman has refuted former President Donald Trump’s claims that the city is a “war zone” due to migrant-related crime. As Trump prepares for a rally in Aurora, Coffman called the accusations “grossly exaggerated” and invited Trump to meet with him and the city’s police chief to better understand the situation.
Trump’s campaign has claimed that migrants, particularly Venezuelan gangs, have brought “chaos and fear” to the city. However, Coffman and other Colorado officials emphasized that the city, home to over 400,000 residents, is safe, and any gang-related incidents have been confined to a few apartment complexes. Coffman reiterated that Aurora is not “overrun by Venezuelan gangs” and expressed concern about the spread of false narratives.
Trump had previously mentioned conspiracy theories about immigrant gangs in Aurora during a debate, but local authorities have disputed these claims.
