Tampa, Florida — Health officials are investigating a multistate E. coli outbreak potentially linked to raw cheddar cheese sold at Sprouts Farmers Market locations, with cases reported in Florida, Texas, and California.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, at least seven people have been sickened, including several young children, and two have been hospitalized. Illnesses were reported between September 2025 and February 2026.
The FDA has urged Raw Farm to remove the suspected products from the market, but the company has declined. No formal recall has been issued as testing continues to confirm the source of contamination.
Officials are advising consumers to avoid the cheese and monitor for symptoms such as severe diarrhea, fever, and dehydration. The outbreak has renewed concerns about raw milk products, which are not pasteurized and can carry harmful bacteria despite claims of health benefits.
