Dallas, Texas — Rep. Jasmine Crockett confirmed that a former security staffer assigned to her Senate campaign was killed in a standoff with Dallas police, raising concerns about security vetting procedures.
The individual, identified as Diamon Mazairre Robinson, allegedly used the alias “Mike King” while working for Crockett’s campaign. Authorities said Robinson had multiple felony warrants, including impersonating a police officer and parole violations. He was shot by officers after barricading himself in a vehicle and reportedly reaching for a firearm.
Crockett said her campaign followed established protocols when hiring the contractor but warned the case exposes gaps in the vetting system for congressional security. She emphasized there had been no indication of violent behavior during his employment.
The incident has renewed calls from some lawmakers for expanded U.S. Capitol Police protection beyond Capitol grounds, particularly as threats against members of Congress increase.
