Shakopee, Minnesota – Mike Lindell’s campaign for Minnesota governor has spent a large share of its early fundraising buying copies of his own autobiography, according to newly released state campaign finance records. The MyPillow founder and prominent election conspiracy promoter reported spending nearly $190,000 on his memoir, What Are the Odds? From Crack Addict to CEO, during the final weeks of 2025.
Campaign finance data from the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board show Lindell raised about $352,000 in individual donations shortly after launching his campaign on December 11. More than half of that total was used to purchase books from MyPillow, with the expense categorized as general advertising. Lindell said the books are being distributed to voters across the state as an alternative to traditional campaign flyers.
“When we’re going around Minnesota, other people hand out a flyer,” Lindell said in a phone interview. “I’m giving them the whole book so they know who I am.” He estimated that between 20,000 and 25,000 copies have already been given away, though it remains unclear whether the campaign paid full retail price.
Lindell is one of roughly ten Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for governor. Despite once amassing significant wealth, he has said he can no longer self-fund his campaign, citing millions spent defending false claims that the 2020 election was stolen. Lindell has lost multiple defamation cases tied to those claims and has acknowledged being deeply in debt.
The campaign’s spending choices have drawn attention as the crowded GOP field prepares for a costly statewide race.
