Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News star, publicly appeared on Wednesday for the first time since leaving the network. In a video statement, Carlson criticized the state of public discourse on U.S. television and took aim at American media and the U.S. political system. He mentioned that both political parties and their donors had reached a consensus on what benefits them, and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it.

Carlson also said that the United States looks like a one-party state, which is a depressing realization, but it’s not permanent. He mentioned that there are not many places left where Americans can find people saying true things, but there are some. Although Carlson signed off the video by saying, “see you soon,” he did not hint at his next move. Carlson and Fox News parted ways less than a week after parent company Fox Corp settled a defamation lawsuit in which Carlson played a starring role.
