The White House and FBI are investigating a cybersecurity breach involving impersonation of President Donald Trump‘s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, according to The Wall Street Journal. An unidentified individual reportedly used text messages and phone calls to pose as Wiles in communications with prominent Republicans and business leaders.

While the calls did not originate from Wiles’ personal number, the voice reportedly sounded like her, raising concerns that artificial intelligence may have been used to imitate her. “Safeguarding our administration officials’ ability to securely communicate is a top priority,” said FBI Director Kash Patel.

Some recipients grew suspicious after noticing unusual grammar and odd requests, including one for a cash transfer. Wiles has since warned her contacts about the impersonator, though some had already interacted with the fraudulent party.

This is not the first reported breach involving Wiles. During the 2024 campaign, Iranian operatives reportedly hacked her email, gaining access to sensitive political information. The current investigation is ongoing, and the White House has yet to comment further.
