Vice President Kamala Harris, alongside actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, advocated for women’s reproductive rights in Pennsylvania. Harris shared her personal journey as a prosecutor specializing in crimes against women and children, which was inspired by a high school friend’s experience.
She criticized the Republican Party for fostering a culture of aggression and suppression of women, particularly regarding abortion laws. Harris pointed out the lack of understanding or care shown by leaders who support a six-week abortion ban.
She also blamed former President Trump for the current state of affairs, accusing him of intentionally picking Supreme Court justices to overturn Roe v. Wade. Following the overturning of Roe in June 2022, 41 states have implemented abortion bans with limited exceptions.
