President Trump is seeing his lowest approval ratings on immigration since returning to the White House, according to multiple new polls. A Reuters-Ipsos survey released Wednesday shows just 41% of Americans approve of his handling of immigration, while 51% disapprove—a steep drop from 47% approval in May.
Immigration was a cornerstone of Trump’s reelection platform, but his mass deportation push has triggered nationwide protests, legal concerns, and humanitarian outcry. One of the latest flashpoints was a confrontation between protesters and federal agents during a raid at a Southern California marijuana farm. Despite these tensions, illegal border crossings have declined.
In the same Reuters-Ipsos poll, 54% of respondents said workplace immigration raids are bad for the country. Just 28% supported them. A Department of Homeland Security announcement this week said over 360 people were arrested in two raids in California, highlighting ongoing aggressive enforcement.
A Gallup poll from late June found Trump’s immigration approval at just 35%, with 62% disapproving. In the latest Quinnipiac and NPR-Marist polls, his approval ranges from 40% to 43%, with disapproval hovering around 52–55%. Among independents, support continues to erode—just 28% approve in Gallup polling, while 59% said ICE has gone too far.
Though support remains high among Republicans, Trump’s immigration agenda is increasingly at odds with national sentiment.
