Donald Trump’s campaign raised a significant $50.5 million at a major fundraiser in Florida, providing a much-needed boost for Trump, who has been routinely outraised by Joe Biden.
The event, hosted at billionaire John Paulson’s Palm Beach home, was Trump’s biggest fundraiser yet. Despite struggling to get some major traditional Republican donors on board, Trump retains the support of some heavy hitters.
The funds raised will be allocated to a fundraising group that has spent tens of millions of dollars on Trump’s legal fees. Trump’s camp stressed the haul was double what Biden raised last month in a star-studded fundraiser with former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. The Trump 47 Committee, a new fundraising tie-up with the Republican National Committee (RNC), directs funds to Trump’s Save America leadership group before anything goes to the RNC.
