Washington, D.C. – President Donald Trump brushed aside concerns from Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday after the South Carolina Republican questioned whether Iran views the new preliminary peace agreement the same way U.S. negotiators do.

Speaking at the G7 summit in France, Trump was asked about Graham’s skepticism toward the deal. “I’ll have to talk to Lindsey. He’ll be in big trouble,” Trump said, before adding, “Lindsey’s good. Lindsey’s fine. He’s not skeptical.”

The exchange came after Trump and Vice President JD Vance signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran that is intended to move the conflict into a second phase of negotiations. Reuters reported that Trump said the agreement is moving to a “second stage,” while AP reported that major questions remain over Iran’s nuclear program.

Graham praised the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz but said he was concerned that Iran’s interpretation of the agreement appeared different from the U.S. position. He later softened his tone, saying he hoped upcoming negotiations would “forever foreclose Iran’s nuclear ambitions.”

The full text of the agreement has not been released, leaving lawmakers in both parties pressing for details.
