Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump again used social media to target former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, posting a doctored image Sunday that showed them boarding an Air Force One covered in graffiti.
The falsified image, posted on Truth Social, showed graffiti reading “Yes We Can,” “Obama,” “BLM,” and the Arabic phrase “alhamdulillah.” The Associated Press reported that graffiti has been used in racist messaging to suggest crime and urban decay, especially when directed at Black people.
This is not the first racist photo or meme Trump has posted targeting the Obamas. In February, during Black History Month, Trump shared a racist image depicting the couple as primates in a jungle. That post was deleted after bipartisan criticism, though Trump did not apologize and a staffer was later blamed.
Sunday’s post came shortly after Trump took his first flight on a new Air Force One, a retrofitted Boeing 747-800 reportedly valued at $400 million and gifted by Qatar. Trump also recently posted a doctored image of Obama’s presidential library in Chicago appearing ruined and surrounded by trash.
The latest post was part of a series of Truth Social messages before Trump’s planned trip to Turkey for a NATO summit.
