Election officials in five states—Nebraska, Tennessee, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Iowa—received suspicious packages Monday, sparking investigations by the FBI and U.S. Postal Service. While no hazardous materials were found, some packages contained powder-like substances, such as flour in Oklahoma and a nonhazardous substance in Nebraska. Other states, including Iowa and Wyoming, evacuated buildings as a precaution while testing continued.
This follows a similar incident last November, when election offices received suspicious letters, some containing fentanyl. These latest threats come amid increased security measures ahead of a heated election.
