Americans are seeing more ads supporting former President Trump than those for presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, according to the Wesleyan Media Project. The study, released Wednesday, found that since July 12, 44,000 pro-Trump ads have aired, with 22,800 from MAGA Inc. and 6,100 from Preserve America PAC.
Since mid-July, the Trump campaign has aired nearly 15,000 ads, spending over $10 million. On the Democratic side, around 32,700 ads have supported Biden and Harris, with 12,000 from Harris’s campaign and 12,000 from Future Forward PAC.
Despite airing fewer ads, Democrats have spent more—$63 million compared to $49 million on pro-Trump ads.
“The shakeup in the presidential contest has given both parties new incentives to advertise,” said Travis Ridout, co-director of the Wesleyan Media Project.
Harris’s ads emphasize public safety, abortion, health care, and affordable housing. In contrast, Trump’s ads focus on immigration, public safety, and opioids. “Trump and his allies are airing ads attempting to tie Harris to border security issues, illegal immigration, and crime,” noted Erika Franklin Fowler, co-director of the project.
