Col. Susan Meyers, commander of Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, has been removed from her post for sending a base-wide email that broke from official U.S. messaging following Vice President JD Vance’s visit and President Donald Trump‘s push to annex the territory.

The U.S. Space Force cited a “loss of confidence in her ability to lead,” emphasizing the need for commanders to remain nonpartisan. Meyers reportedly expressed support for Greenland and Denmark in her message, contradicting Trump’s annexation ambitions, which he claims are for national security.

Trump has not ruled out the use of military force to claim Greenland, sparking diplomatic tensions with Denmark, a NATO ally. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said actions that “subvert President Trump’s agenda will not be tolerated.”

Meyers’ firing follows several other dismissals of senior military leaders, particularly high-ranking women, including Adm. Lisa Franchetti and Adm. Linda Fagan, raising concerns about politicization within the military’s leadership ranks.

What happened to the belief that the military is to be nonpolitical? All military take an oath to follow and protect the constitution. Again, and again Trump is not keeping his oath to the constitution.
