Former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who endorsed Donald Trump and is expected to join his administration, suggested in a recent MSNBC interview that “entire departments” within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), such as its nutrition department, “have to go” for failing to protect public health. This aligns with Kennedy’s advocacy for health reforms and indicates his potential influence on U.S. health policy under Trump.
Kennedy confirmed discussions with Trump about a White House position, though his exact role remains undetermined. When asked on Fox News about possibly leading the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Kennedy noted they were “developing a proposal,” while Howard Lutnick, Trump’s transition co-chair, dismissed the idea of him becoming HHS Secretary, a position requiring Senate confirmation.
Kennedy, however, emphasized that he does not aim to eliminate health agencies unless Congress supports it, stating, “I can get the corruption out of the agencies.”
