Nearly 200 progressive organizations, including Justice Democrats and the Sunrise Movement, have expressed solidarity with pro-Palestinian student protests. The students demand university divestment from corporations profiting from Israeli occupation and safer campus environments for Palestinians.
Protests have erupted nationwide, notably at Columbia University, where students occupied a building, renamed it Hind’s Hall after a young Gazan victim, and demanded divestment, financial transparency, and amnesty. Over 1,000 arrests have been made on campuses as the academic year ends. Despite the protests’ expansion beyond the U.S., some Jewish students report feeling unsafe.
