A recent NBC News poll highlights significant voter apprehension regarding President Joe Biden’s health and former President Donald Trump’s legal troubles, signaling potential issues in a possible electoral rematch. The survey reveals that 76% of voters express major or moderate concerns about 81-year-old Biden’s mental and physical capability to serve another term, with a bipartisan breakdown showing concerns across the political spectrum—95% of Republicans, 81% of independents, and 54% of Democrats.
In contrast, concerns about 77-year-old Trump’s health are less pronounced, with 48% of respondents indicating major or moderate worries. However, Trump’s ongoing legal challenges, which include four criminal cases, are a major concern for 51% of voters, with a notable partisan divide: 95% of Democrats, 65% of independents, and 27% of Republicans expressing major or moderate concerns.
Additionally, the poll addresses concerns about claims involving Biden and his son Hunter’s business dealings, with nearly 60% of voters having major or moderate concerns. This comes amidst Republican-led investigations and an impeachment inquiry into the matter.
The survey was conducted among 1,000 registered voters from January 26-30, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
