Washington, D.C. — A new Axios-Ipsos poll finds declining public trust in government vaccine recommendations, with 60% of Americans saying they trust childhood vaccination guidance, down from 71% last year.
The survey of 1,225 U.S. adults, conducted March 6–9, also found rising skepticism toward health officials tied to the Trump administration. About 70% of respondents said they have little or no trust in health information from Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while confidence in pediatricians remained significantly higher.
The poll indicates growing political polarization around public health, with Democrats and independents driving much of the decline in trust. At the same time, some elements of Kennedy’s broader health agenda, including food and chronic disease policies, received more public support.
The findings come as a federal judge recently blocked key vaccine policy changes. Researchers said the issue is becoming increasingly politicized, contributing to uncertainty among Americans about health guidance and government recommendations.
