Washington, D.C. — A new national poll shows most Americans oppose President Donald Trump’s proposed White House ballroom project and his reported push to place his signature on U.S. currency.
According to polling conducted by ABC News, The Washington Post, and Ipsos, 56% of Americans oppose the $400 million ballroom proposal, while 28% support it. The plan would involve replacing part of the White House East Wing with a large event space. Public opinion reportedly remained unchanged even after recent events at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
Trump has said the ballroom would be privately funded, though reports indicate some public funding could be involved through grants tied to the project. The proposal has also drawn legal scrutiny, with preservation groups challenging potential changes to the historic White House complex.
The poll also found strong opposition to Trump’s idea of adding his signature to U.S. paper currency. About 68% of respondents said they oppose the move, reflecting resistance across multiple demographic groups.
Support for the ballroom varies within the Republican Party, with strong backing among MAGA-aligned voters and significantly lower support among other Republicans, highlighting ongoing divisions within the party.
The findings suggest that while Trump maintains a loyal base, broader public opinion remains skeptical of high-profile projects tied to his personal branding and legacy efforts.
