JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri — Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has donated $1.25 million to the campaign opposing Amendment 3, widening the financial advantage for groups seeking to preserve abortion rights approved by Missouri voters in 2024.
Stop the Ban has now raised more than $6.5 million ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The leading committee supporting Amendment 3, Her Health, Her Future PAC, has raised just over $1 million. Missouri Right to Life has separately spent about $230,000 supporting the measure.
Amendment 3 would repeal the constitutional reproductive-rights amendment voters approved with roughly 52% support in 2024. If approved, it would again prohibit most abortions, with exceptions for medical emergencies and pregnancies resulting from rape or incest during the first 12 weeks. It would also place Missouri’s existing ban on gender-transition procedures for minors into the state constitution.
Bloomberg previously gave $1 million to the coalition that successfully supported abortion rights in Missouri’s 2024 election.
The fundraising gap mirrors that earlier campaign. Abortion-rights groups raised more than $31 million in 2024, compared with roughly $5 million by opponents.
Supporters of Amendment 3 argue voters should restore stronger abortion restrictions. Opponents frame the measure as an effort by lawmakers to overturn a reproductive-rights decision Missourians made less than two years ago.
With the primary complete, both sides are expected to accelerate advertising and voter outreach through November.
