WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump is again alleging election fraud without evidence, this time claiming Republican Mike Rogers was cheated out of Michigan’s 2024 U.S. Senate race.
During an interview with Punchbowl News, Trump said he believed Rogers actually won against Democrat Elissa Slotkin and called the contest “a rigged deal.” He offered no evidence to support the accusation.
The certified results show Slotkin defeated Rogers by roughly 19,000 votes, or about 0.3 percentage points. Michigan’s bipartisan Board of State Canvassers unanimously certified the 2024 election after all 83 county canvassing boards completed their reviews.
Michigan’s subsequent statewide audit also found no evidence that tabulation problems altered election outcomes. A risk-limiting audit hand-counted nearly 120,000 ballots from 166 precincts and found a difference of just 33 votes from machine totals — about 0.03% of audited ballots.
Rogers himself previously floated similarly unsupported claims about his 2024 loss, despite the absence of evidence showing widespread fraud or an incorrect result.
Trump made the accusation while discussing Rogers’ 2026 campaign against Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed. He also repeatedly called El-Sayed “Abdullah,” despite his actual name being Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed.
Trump has a long history of labeling elections “rigged” when results or polling are unfavorable. In this case, the allegation directly contradicts Michigan’s certified results and post-election auditing.
