WASHINGTON, D.C. — Newly disclosed emails released Wednesday by House Democrats appear to suggest that President Donald Trump had prior knowledge of the conduct of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, intensifying calls to release the so-called Epstein files. The messages, obtained by the House Oversight Committee, include a 2011 email in which Epstein wrote that Trump “spent hours at my house” with one of his sex-trafficked victims, adding that “of course [Trump] knew about the girls.”
The emails, which had not been publicly released before, describe Trump as “that dog that hasn’t barked,” noting that he had “never once been mentioned” in connection with Epstein’s network despite long-standing social ties. A second email sent by Epstein to author Michael Wolff claims Trump had asked him to resign from his Mar-a-Lago club, to which Epstein responded, “of course he knew about the girls as he asked Ghislaine to stop,” referring to Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex-trafficking.
Trump has denied any involvement in Epstein’s crimes and has publicly condemned him since his 2019 death in federal custody. However, Democrats argue the new evidence raises questions about what Trump knew and when. They have renewed demands for Attorney General Pam Bondi to release the full cache of Epstein-related documents. The White House has declined to comment.
