Former Adams Township Clerk Stephanie Scott and her attorney Stefanie Lambert face multiple felony charges related to unauthorized computer use, concealing a voting machine, and misconduct in office. The charges are part of a state inquiry into attempts by Trump supporters to tamper with voting machines to substantiate false claims of election fraud.
Scott, a Republican, had her election authority revoked in 2021 for resisting state orders to allow testing and maintenance on a voting tabulator, claiming it would erase potential fraud evidence. Scott and Lambert are also accused of providing unauthorized access to non-public voter information.
Their actions are part of a national effort by lawyers and public officials seeking evidence of Trump’s false stolen-election claims. Lambert, a Detroit defense lawyer, has been a key figure in this movement. The case has parallels to that of Tina Peters, a Colorado clerk set to go to trial over a similar alleged scheme.
