King Charles III has stripped his brother, Prince Andrew, of his remaining royal titles and ordered him to vacate his Windsor residence following renewed scrutiny over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Buckingham Palace announced Thursday that Charles has “initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.”
The 65-year-old royal will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and will move from the Royal Lodge into private housing. The decision comes weeks after he relinquished his Duke of York title under growing public and parliamentary pressure.
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the palace said. “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Andrew’s reputation has suffered since 2019, when his friendship with Epstein became public. He later settled a civil lawsuit with Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault when she was 17. Andrew denied wrongdoing but paid millions in 2022 to resolve the case.
