WASHINGTON, DC — Rep. Jamie Raskin said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s name appears “more than one million times” in the unredacted Jeffrey Epstein files, raising new questions about the scope of material referenced in records reviewed by members of Congress.

In an interview with Axios, the Maryland Democrat said he searched Trump’s name while reviewing the unredacted files at the Department of Justice and was struck by the volume of references. Raskin, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, emphasized that the sheer number does not itself establish wrongdoing, but he argued it undercuts claims that the files contain little relevant information.

Raskin pointed to a 2009 email exchange between Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell in which Epstein recounted what his lawyers said Trump told them about Epstein’s access to Mar-a-Lago. According to Raskin, the email paraphrases Trump as saying Epstein was a guest at the club and was never formally banned. Trump has publicly maintained that he expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for misconduct, a claim echoed by a former Palm Beach police chief in FBI testimony.

The White House pushed back through posts by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, who accused lawmakers of sensationalizing file references and said the DOJ is not hiding information. Blanche argued that frequent mentions do not equate to criminal involvement.

Raskin criticized the DOJ’s limited review process, which restricts lawmakers to four computers during business hours, calling it inadequate given the more than three million documents involved. He urged the administration to release the remaining unreleased files publicly.
