The House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas Tuesday to former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and top Justice Department and FBI officials as part of a renewed investigation into the government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Led by Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the committee seeks testimony from former Attorneys General Merrick Garland, Bill Barr, Alberto Gonzales, Jeff Sessions, Loretta Lynch, and Eric Holder, along with former FBI Directors James Comey and Robert Mueller. Subpoenas also target Attorney General Pam Bondi for documents tied to Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.

The effort follows a July memo from the DOJ and FBI stating Epstein had no client list and died by suicide in 2019. The findings sparked backlash among Trump allies, who suspect deeper wrongdoing.

Comer said the investigation aims to inform potential legislation around federal sex trafficking enforcement and plea agreements. Some lawmakers want sealed Epstein files made public, but Speaker Mike Johnson delayed action on a House resolution until after recess.

Maxwell, convicted in 2021, met with Deputy AG Todd Blanche last month before being transferred to a Texas facility. Her Supreme Court appeal is pending.
